Holiday ornaments made from actual bulbs from the famous Plaza Lights display.

Each ornament is made from a bulb that once adorned the Country Club Plaza in its famous holiday light display as one of the 280,000 jewel-colored bulbs that are strung over 80 miles during the holiday season. Once a bulb has burned out, it is retired and replaced with a new shining bulb; left to continue the holiday tradition by adorning the homes of those who have memories of the beautiful sight. Each ornament shares the joy of holiday traditions by bringing light to its recipients and to the children of Children’s Mercy Hospital. Bulbs are left in their original condition, with the addition of a hanger soldered to the top. A gold charm with the year “2009” dangles from a festive holiday bow to top off the ornament. Each bulb is then packaged in distinctive Plaza boxes with the story of each bulb written on the back.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each ornament will be donated to Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics of Kansas City. Ornaments also help support the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City for their part in the transformation of the bulbs into ornaments.
